• Bug update

  There was a known issue with the file permissions being created incorrectly at first. [well, more like the server didn’t like what the code was doing], as well as causing problems with the email validation.
  [edit: there’s still problems with email validation. working on it.]

  This has been fixed with a quick hack and hopefully shouldn’t be a problem anymore.

  However, don’t forget you can’t access your blog until you’ve validated your email, so don’t be too quick off the mark now!

  Also please note the blog settings explained below. You’ll need to set them before you start.

  The annoying thing is, despite them saying it’s morally & legally wrong because it taking away money that ‘users’ would have spent in license fees, buying DVD’s, cinema tickets etc… most of what people watch, is what they couldn’t get any other way. Shows that aren’t on anymore, or aren’t being shown here…
  [and I love the way what’s really steaming them is the fact they can;t get their cut of it!]

  Invite codes are still not up and running, sorry about that. But our programmer is having a life at the moment. Can’t think why?!

  
• Post settings: How to.

  Ok, there seems to be a little confusion over what you need to be setting…

  In the ‘backoffice’ [what you see when you’ve signed in and/or clicked on the Admin link in the side bar] you need to click on Blog settings [in the left-hand side bar].

  There should be a section box on that page marked Blog URL parameters in light grey in the box outline.

  The first setting of that should be:
  Blog folder URL : and the bit you need to fill in the box should read
  /u/your-user-name/
  where you replace the italic section with your user name.

  Below that, the other setting you need to sort out is:
  Preferred access type which needs to be set to: Explicit reference on index.php

  Ok, now, read along the tabs at the top, which should be;
  General. Skin. Display. Advanced.[edited, sorry, forgot I was admin and shows stuff you don;t see].

  Click on Display.
  the settings you need to make sure of are in ‘List of public blogs’ section near the bottom.
  Ticking Display public blog list means the list of public blogs is shown at the top of your screen.
  Ticking Include in public blog list puts your blog name in it’s own button at the top of the screen along with the other public blogs.

  Final setting you need to make sure of is, default link blog right at the bottom. Set this to either Tortuga, The Captains Blog, or The mast head.

  As a note, if your in your blog view, and you want to post, scroll down and under Misc your should find a link for Admin, click on that and it takes you to the back office from where you post.

  Ok… currently registration is unavailable due to construction work…

  Just to let people know.. we have a whole slew of new skins available now…
  Including one that’s predominantly purple for people of that persuasion!

  So, we should have a friends cloud, that’s like a combination of f-list and tag-cloud, by Monday, making it easier to find one another.

  Likewise in development is the galley… er, gallery plugin.

  The avatars [icons, or user pics] should be up and running by the end of this week, they’ll come in two sizes big [200x200] and small [100x100]. It’ll be one each at first until I can hack the code around a bit more, and then we should have selectable.

  Question:
  How many is a reasonable number for people?
  Should early adopters get more than standard bloggers? [RHIP!]
